      <image:title>About - A bit about me and my approach to yoga…</image:title>
      <image:caption>Hello, I’m Laura Knightly Brown… a yoga teacher and wellbeing enthusiast. I’ve been practicing yoga since 2004, and teaching since 2015. I’ve tried a wide variety of yoga styles but I’ve also explored a lot of different movement disciplines and read A LOT of books (and completed courses and training) on positive psychology, nutrition, breathing, bio-mechanics, rest, sleep, nature, sunlight, mindfulness and more… basically I’m fascinated by all the tools, research and wisdom, ancient and new, that can help us THRIVE. For me, yoga combines some of the core wellness practices - movement, breath-work, meditation and awareness of our mind-set – that can enable us to take control of our own health and happiness. This feeling of empowerment is the key to reaching our potential and making the most of this one life! I predominantly teach “vinyasa” yoga where the movement is connected to the breath. The classes are challenging and uplifting. Physically, I’m interested in evolving yoga to make it a bit more “functional”… to create bodies that are strong, mobile, skilful, adaptable, graceful and pain-free… a body that can do all the fun stuff it wants to… whether that’s long runs, standing on your hands or just being able to get up and down easily to play with grandkids. Psychologically, I believe yoga can not only help calm and focus the mind but can contribute to an array of other positive mental / emotional attributes including self-confidence, self-compassion and a positive sense of achievement. Oh, and although all that sounds quite serious, I really don’t take myself that seriously… I hope! Fundamentally I believe your yoga experience should be FUN… a chance to enjoy moving your body, trying new things out and even being a bit playful :-).</image:caption>

      <image:caption>If you’d like to start or develop your yoga practice, but are not sure about joining a regular group class, then private yoga tuition or a private group yoga class could be a great option for you. The advantage is that I can tailor the yoga session to your precise needs and go at a pace (fast or slow!) that works for you. Is a private yoga session right for me? If you are a complete beginner to yoga then one-to-one tuition is a great way to learn the basics and get the confidence to join a group class. Private yoga coaching gives you the opportunity to ask lots of question about the yoga poses, breathing and alignment which you might not feel comfortable asking in a public yoga class. Private one-to-one yoga is also ideal if you are rehabilitating after an injury or if you have specific areas of the body you’d like to target… your hamstrings, core or a tight upper back for example. But even if you have been practicing yoga for a while, personal yoga tuition can help you develop your yoga skills, troubleshoot poses or body areas that need extra focus and help support you in creating a home practice routine. You could start with a couple of taster sessions or commit to a block of private yoga classes, in person or online. Whether you suffer from extremely tight hamstrings and can barely touch your toes, or want to know how to get up into headstand, we can work together to devise a yoga practice that will help you reach your movement goals. Where will the private yoga sessions take place? I can come to your home in Leckhampton, Cheltenham or elsewhere in Gloucestershire, provided you have enough space to lay down a yoga mat! Alternatively the session can be held online, providing lots of flexibility to fit the one-to-one yoga session into your day.       <image:caption>Your wedding day, and the preparation and lead up to the big day, is a magical time to cherish… but no one promised it would be stress free! Too many brides (and bridesmaids, family and other wedding party members) are so distracted by worrying about the day ahead and making sure everything is perfect, that they forget to be present, to be in their bodies and to ENJOY every moment of this special time. Including yoga as part of your wedding morning, or wedding weekend, is a great way to take time to stop, breathe, re-set and to focus on what really matters… the love and connection with those around you. Wedding Morning Yoga A yoga session is a lovely way to ground yourself and release tension and nerves on the morning of your big day. I can tailor the session to suit you and those joining you. If you regularly practice yoga you might enjoy the format of a normal yoga class… an hour of moving with the breath including sun salutes, standing and seated poses and relaxation. If you’re new to yoga then just half an hour of slow stretches and breath work to calm and relax might be perfect. I can also offer breathing and mantras to practice whilst hair and make-up are being done. Just chat to me about your day and who will be there and we can work out what’s best for you. Wedding Party Weekend Yoga Many weddings now take place over a weekend with guests staying more than one night. A yoga class can be a great way to entertain your guests and give them an opportunity to meet other members of the wedding party in a relaxed atmosphere. Sessions could be 45 minutes to 1.5 hours and I can tailor the session to all levels of experience, from the beginner to the intermediate, so that all guests feel included.
